The Philadelphia Print Shop West

The Philadelphia Print Shop West sells original antique maps and prints from the sixteenth through the first part of the twentieth century.  Located in Denver, Colorado, the shop has one of the largest inventories of old maps and vintage prints in the country.

We are very concerned about the safety and health of others.  Like every business in the country, the Covid-19 crisis has affected our shop tremendously.  We have had to adapt as best possible, both to protect our friends and clients, and to try trying to keep the business running.

We have now opened our shop with “safe in-shop” practices.  At most, two clients (or couples) are allowed in the shop at one time, and all visitors must wear a mask and either put on protective gloves or use hand sanitizer, both of which we provide.  Appointments are recommended.

The Philadelphia Print Shop West is located at 2830 E 3rd Avenue in Cherry Creek North, a charming shopping district just southeast of downtown Denver, Colorado. It is easy to drive to the shop from downtown Denver, the airport, or either I70 or I25, following simple directions.

We are located on the 2nd floor of the building mid-way between Detroit and Fillmore, sharing a space with Cherry Creek Framing.  We offer free parking right on the building premises. The shop is about a 30 minute drive from the airport or a 15 minute drive from downtown Denver.

Visitors to our shop are welcome to browse through our collection of over 10,000 antique maps and prints, or to view our impressive array of related reference works, rare plate books and atlases. Our knowledgeable staff is always pleased to discuss any aspect of antique prints and maps, or offer advice on any questions you might have.

The Philadelphia Print Shop, purveyor of antique prints, antique maps and related books, was founded by partners Donald H. Cresswell and Christopher W. Lane and first opened its doors in Philadelphia in September, 1982. Chris had been working on his Ph.D. thesis in Philosophy when he decided to take a hiatus to research and pursue his hobby of collecting antique maps and prints by working for a dealer in Philadelphia. It was there that Chris met Don and a year later they decided to start the Print Shop, in order to pursue their common interest in antique prints and maps and to run their business in the way they thought it should be run.

In 2010, Chris’s wife, Dr. J. Lindsey Lane, was offered a job at Denver Children’s Hospital that she couldn’t pass up, so Don and Chris decided they would open a new branch there, The Philadelphia Print Shop West, which had its Grand Opening on November 19, 2010. After four years, the partners decided that logistically it made sense to split up the Print Shop into two firms, so on January 1st, 2015, The Philadelphia Print Shop West became a separate business.

From the beginning, Don and Chris focused on providing an extensive collection of prints and maps of all kinds, well researched and fairly priced. They worked happily with institutions, beginning and advanced collectors, those interested in decoration for their home or office, and those looking for an unusual gift. The Philadelphia Print Shop West continues with that policy.
