1912 Hawaii

“Hawaii.”  From New Ideal State and County Survey and Atlas.  Chicago: Rand, McNally & Co., 1912.  9 1/4 x 12 3/8.  Color printed cerograph.  Very good condition.

A nicely detailed map of the Hawaiian islands from 1912.  Rand, McNally & Co. had by then established their reputation for clear yet precisely detailed maps, and this example proves why.  In order to present the islands in a larger size, the islands from the big island to Oahu are shown in the main map, with the “Western Islands” included in an inset in the lower left.  A balancing inset map of Honolulu graces the upper right corner.
