In 1809, R. Ackermann began issuing his The Repository of Arts, Literature, Commerce, Manufactures, Fashions and Politics. This work, which ran from 1809 until 1828, consisted of prints on various subjects in various media that were issued about six prints a month. The quality of these prints remained consistently high throughout, and their impact on English graphic illustration was considerable. One of the series of prints Ackermann is noted for consisted of images of the various mansion in England. These were issued between 1823 and 1828, and then in a collected work in 1830. This is from the original issue and its fine detail and lovely original color demonstrates why these prints were so popular.
