“American Hunting Scenes.” Mid-nineteenth century. 16 3/4 x 22. Lithograph. Original hand color. Very good condition.
There were many firms besides Currier & Ives issuing popular prints to decorate the homes, offices and clubs of America. These prints were published in various sizes, with large folio images such as this aimed at a more ‘up market’ audience than the small folio prints. This print has no attribution, but the quality is quite good, indicating that the publisher was aiming squarely at the same market as those large folio images published by their New York competitor.
