“Deer Shooting.” New York: Fischer & Carpenter, mid-nineteenth century. 17 1/4 x 23 1/2. Lithograph. Original hand color. Narrow margins, but very good condition.
There were many firms besides Currier & Ives issuing popular prints to decorate the homes, offices and clubs of America. Fischer & Carpenter were also from New York, but had a much smaller output. They also did not have the financial wherewithal to hire top end artists, so their prints tend to be cruder than their competitors, as delightfully evidenced in this large folio hunting print.
