A double page print from an interesting series of images printed by the Smith-Brooks Co. for A.A. Walling & Martin Slaughter (Co.), a prominent bookseller and publisher in Colorado Springs. Smith-Brooks could boast of a rich history of printing since their establishment in 1889, ranging from calendars, to books such as “Ghost Cities of Colorado”,  as well as official Colorado State publications such as the Colorado Geological Survey Bulletins, and Compiled Laws of Colorado.  Their booklet, In the Shadow of Pike’s Peak, demonstrates the photo based abilities of this printer. The observer is treated to scenes of the cityscapes, the railroads, and the natural beauty surrounding the Pike’s Peak area.  This is a double page image showing Pike’s Peak from the Gateway in the Garden of the Gods.
