Frank Moore was known for authoring Diary of the American Revolution, and for editing a number of historical texts including The Speeches of Andrew Johnson and Women in the War 1861-1865. He was born in New Hampshire and worked as a journalist in New York City. His twelve volume set The Rebellion Record: A Diary of American Events with Documents, Narratives, Illustrative Incidents, Poetry etc. was published over the years of 1861 to 1868 by G.P. Putnam and D. Van Nostrand, and contains a wealth of original material illuminating the history of the Civil War. This is a fine engraving of General Beauregard from that volume.
