“Minnesota.” Philadelphia: O.W. Gray & Son, 1875. 23 x 16. Lithograph. Original hand color. Very good condition.
An original antique map of Minnesota. This nicely detailed map of the state was by the Philadelphia firm of O.W. Gray and Son. The firm began its publishing around mid-century and published regional and U.S. atlases up to the 1880s. Their maps are very detailed, with each county hand colored. Good information is given of political divisions, population centers, roads and especially railroads. The focus of the Gray atlas was indeed the burgeoning railroad network throughout the country and that is detailed very clearly on this map.
