“Virginia & West Virginia.” Philadelphia: O.W. Gray, 1875. 11 1/4 x 14 1/4. Lithograph. Original hand color. Light stain at left edge. Else, very good condition.
A nicely detailed map of the states of Virginia and West Virginia by the Gray map publishing firm out of Philadelphia. They are shown with their present borders, which were established a little over a decade before this map was issued. The map shows the towns, rivers, mountains, counties, and canals in each state in the year before the nation’s centennial. Of particular interest are the railroads, which crisscross the states, and the inset maps of Richmond and Norfolk.
