Jacob Biggle “Rouen Ducks and White Muscovy Ducks” Print from Biggle Poultry Book. Philadelphia, 1898. Chromolithographs. Ca 3 x 5. Very good condition.
A series of charming images of poultry from Jacob Biggle’s “Treatise on the Management of Farm Poultry,” for which he wrote “What this country needs is less hog and hominy and more chicken and celery.” Each chromolithograph presents the poultry with colorful and accurate detail. These are delightful examples of late nineteenth century illustration.
