A large, impressively detailed map of England and Wales by A.J. Johnson.  One of the leading map makers in the United States in the middle of the nineteenth century, Johnson’s maps are known for their precise and copious information, and this map is a prime example of that.  Each county is colored with a contrasting shade, and topography, towns, cities, rivers, lakes and much else clearly shown.  Of particular interest are the many railroads criss-crossing the two nations.
