This map is indicative of their style of work, with bright colors, accurate detail and decorative borders. In this map, Iowa and Nebraska are shown at an early point in their history. Neither was particularly populous, but the beginnings can be seen on this map, as well as the changes seen on the edition Johnson published two years later, as seen below.
