Lajos Kossuth, was a Hungarian nobleman and statesman. He was a fighter for Hungarian freedom, who became the Governor-President of the Kingdom of Hungary during the revolution of 1848-49, and was known as the “Father of Hungarian Democracy.” His speeches were considered to be particularly powerful by American politicians. This print was issued in New York by the firm of T.W. Strong probably at the time of the Hungarian revolution.
