An original antique map of New Orleans by S. Augustus Mitchell, Jr. Issued in 1863, this lovely image shows the city during the Civil War. Mitchell’s New General Atlas is known for its fine city maps and this is a nice example. The city is shown on both sides of the Mississippi, centering on the French Quarter. The streets are all indicated, as are the canals and railroad lines providing transportation into the city.
