Henry Popple. “Quebec.” Amsterdam: Covens & Mortier. 1757. 4 3/4 x 10 1/2. Engraving. Very good condition.
In 1733, Henry Popple created a huge map of North America which included four views of principle American cities. When Covens & Mortier reproduced this map two decades later, intended for a continental market, they included a separate sheet with the four views, including views of New York City, Quebec, Mexico City, and Niagara Falls. Each location is shown with excellent detail and the three city views include keys identifying major cities. These are some of the best eighteenth century views of these important American sites.
