Rudolf Kramer. “Uylesburyente.” [Aylesbury ducks.] From Taschenbuch der Rassegeflügelzucht. Würzburg: H. Stürtz, 1899. Ca. 3 1/2 x 5 3/4. Chromolithograph. Very good condition.
A striking print from a series group of small German chromolithographic images of plain and fancy domestic fowl published at the end of the 19th Century. These handsome and sometimes ornately feathered creatures are shown with excellent color and detail. Fancy birds–pigeons, fowl and others–were quite popular in the nineteenth century and these delightful prints well capture the appeal of these colorful and quite proud feathered prizes.
