“The World on a Globular Projection.” New Haven: D.F. Robinson, 1830. 9 1/2 x 17 1/2. Engraving by E. Huntington. Slight separation at centerfold. Else, very good condition.
An 1830 double hemisphere world map issued in New Haven in 1830. The map was published by D.F. Robinson and it shows the world in a double hemisphere projection. Detail includes the names of many countries and some cities, but focuses more on the rivers of the world. An interesting feature is the indication of early discovery of Australia, though most of the South Pole is shown as open ocean. Along the left is a chart of the heights of major mountains, and the right a chart of the longest days and nights around the world.
