A fish print by William B. Gillette (1864-1937). Gillette was born in Canada, but spent most of his life living and working in New York. As such, he is closely associated with New York State, specifically with its wild game and fish. He was a prolific watercolorist and etcher of wildlife, especially fish, game birds, and marine life. His work was very popular with the general public, as well as with the scientific community. His work provided illustrations for many natural history textbooks and nature guides.
